    When is the best time to visit Rwanda?

    The best time to visit Rwanda for gorilla trekking is during the short and long dry seasons, which run from mid-December to early February, and from June to September. During these periods, the forest trails in Volcanoes National Park are less muddy and much easier to navigate, although the rainforest can experience rain at any time of year.

    How difficult is Mountain Gorilla trekking?

    Trekking can vary from a relatively easy 1-hour hike to a strenuous 4- to 6-hour trek depending on which gorilla family you are assigned to and their daily movements. Because the terrain is mountainous and often muddy, a moderate level of physical fitness is required. Porters are readily available to hire at the park headquarters to assist you with your daypack and navigate the steep slopes.
